At Urban Cedarworks, we design and build quality custom gates using traditional mortise & tenon joinery  as well as simpler builds of gates.  We take great pride in designing and building gates that will last a lifetime and  are in scale with the home & garden setting.  These gates can be hand-crafted out of cleft cedar, or milled cedar.

 Cleft wood cedar is naturally split with a  tool called a froe.  Cleft wood cedar is rich in texture and organic curves.  It is much stronger than milled wood because you are maintaining the grain pattern when splitting the wood.
